New brake fun!

Besides taking 11 hours all day in +90 degree heat and 100% humidity (yes, I looked like I'd been in a pool, haha!) I replaced the front and rear brakes today on the Pathy. (Ok, so there was working on another Jeep and maybe beer involved so the brake job itself, including the three hour trip to get a 10mm tube wrench, was about 6 hours.)

Below is what was replaced and part numbers for you reading pleasure:
Centric Premium Rotors (F:12042085, R:12042086)
Hawk LTS Pads (F:HB618Y.625, R:HB619Y.625)
Goodridge g-Stop Braided lines (21114)
Raybestos hardware kits (F:H15906A, R:H15926A)
Castrol GTLMA fluid


I'll let them bed in a bit and provide some feedback on how it feels. Already ran the pad bed-in procedure according to Hawk tonight, so we'll see the next few days.

I couldn't find my beloved Valvoline Synthetic brake fluid anywhere around here, just crappy no-name DOT3 stuff. Found the Castrol GTLMA on line for a good price, so we'll see how it works out with the BG that's already in the system.

I've used the Centric rotors before and liked them on my Mazda and Silverado. Ditto on the Hawk LTS pads on my Silverado too, made a huge difference.

Too many missing clips, torn boots, and etc in the past always has be getting a hardware kit for any brake job I do. Worked out good here, because I mangled the front retainer clips getting the old pads out.

(I'm still pissed that the damn shop manual DOES NOT mention anything about the mini drum/shoe setup for the e-brake on the rears! or at least the section I was reading) Glad I've worked on shoes and drum setups before, otherwise I'd be scratching my head on that one, haha!

Let us know how that turns out. Especially the pedal feel after those stainless braided lines. I've heard positive reviews about the Hawker pads, been thinking about getting those over the EDC Greenstuff ones.

On a side note, how's the brake dust?

Parking Brake info is in the Factory Manual for my 2008 model. Under Brakes it's section PB.

please post up about this. i was just about to order that stuff (front rotors/pads) of the same brand and figured i'd stop in on here for some info and what works best threads.

New brakes are like night and day, way better grab, firmer feel, not squishy at all... wow, that's almost NSFW, haha!

The Rotors and hardware kits I picked up from RockAuto.com. Hawk pads are from Hawkpadsdirect.com and I forgot where I got the lines from... maybe tirerack (I know they have them), but I doubt it.

I can feel I have some air in the lines at times, just need to bleed em out a bit more.
