Power Intake Valve

Postby ShipFixer » Fri Oct 22, 2010 6:15 am

After yet more forum deep-diving, I managed to find references to the power intake valve. My truck is rattling at a slightly different RPM (2700) but it sounds like this could be it.

I can't find a reference to it quickly in the service manual. Is this a DIY-capable inspection and repair? Obviously I don't have the computer to do the check as per the TSB, but if it's not a PITA to get to the intake assembly and glue this thing in place then I don't mind doing it myself.

I do have a Nissan dealership nearby that's been very good to me through the chain tensioner and other repairs, but dropping off my truck and going back to get it is a pain in DC traffic.

It's not a hard repair at all. You just need 3M scotch weld DP190 epoxy to perform this repair, you have to use this specific epoxy due to its ability to remain flexible after cure. Here is a link to a guy who took pics on an Xterra forum http://www.thenewx.org/forum/showthread ... 812&page=3 :D

Thanks! I ordered the DP-190 from Amazon this afternoon. Hopefully this fixes it...

Glued it in place tonight, hoping for the best in the morning! Also discovered that somewhere along the line a mechanic didn't reinstall a washer under one of the bolts holding an engine cover in place, so that may have been part of my vibration issue as well :x

Well that wasn't it. Guess I'm back to re-examining the brake line brackets along the firewall...

That sucks... too bad that didn't fix it

Good luck on finding the rattle.
