P0442 code

Other than the gas cap is there anything else that typically causes this fault? Code popped up while driving -40mph and 20 miles left in the tank.

Also will the code clear itself if the gas cap is replaced or tightened correctly?

P0442 refers to an evap system problem which could be a loose gas cap. I'd remove the cap & reinstall it, making sure you click it down 5 times. Then drive the car 3 - 5 drive cycles & the light should reset.

I had this code too. Mine was on for a while before I finally decided to look into it. It ended up being the evap valve on top of the canister. If you ask your local nissan dealer they should know which one its a "semi" common problem. Also this is providing you have a good cap and no other leaks .
