Carefull when pulling out of the garage

Postby The_David » Sun Jan 09, 2011 9:02 am

So does anyone know if the side mirror cap is replaceable? looks like i'll have to replace the whole mirror.
Stupid me blasted out of the garage and caught the edge of the mirror which busted the heck out of the cap, but left the mirror its self just fine.

searching around it seems I can only buy a new mirror, and they are even more expensive to get another Heated one. Not to mention none of them are paint matched.

Ideally I'd just get a cheaper not heated mirror and swap the insides, and then paint it with some color match spray paint. I know it won't be perfect but it should be close.

Thanks guys!

Try www.car-part.com to search salvage yards nationwide.

Last year, the wife did something similar, and hit our electrical meter while backing out of the driveway. RS Mirror was cracked and hanging. I had to buy a complete mirror assembly, ~$180 at the dealer parts counter, plus another $50 to paint/install it at a local body shop.

In hindsight, I should have hunted down a used one.

Mine is an '08 LE with heated mirrors

Thanks for the link! I'll be keeping that for a while.

It's a shame the used mirror prices are still close to the brand new one (not painted of course).
