VDC LIGHT STAYING ON AFTER Xentec HID 9007 600K INSTALLATION

Postby arrdode » Sun Feb 06, 2011 2:53 pm

Well here are the pics of my installation.

I notice there is small problem during the installation.

The Xentec kit only comes with two male prongs end for the harness.

But look at picture : IMG00056
The factory nissan plug has three female prongs end.

UNPLUGGED NEGATIVE FROM BATTERY THE WHOLE TIME.

After the lights are in place, what I did was plug the red into the red end of course and black in to the black.
See this picture.http://www.flickr.com/photos/33247985@N03/5422467303/

Question: What about the extra one??? I think this is the reason why my VDC light is staying on. Something I did wrong here...

I would hate to uninstall everything to stock and bring to the dealer for a checkup.

Please help!!!

Thanks,

I don't know where you're from, but Canadian pathfinders have Daytime running lights which use the high beam filament.
Since you bought a single beam kit without highbeam the computers probably telling you it's got no daytime running lights.

New York City here, no need to use Hi Beam. But I didn't get single output because I wanted, only because I made a wrong purchase off ebay and didn't want the hassle of returns.

How to fix the light? Anyone.

the VDC light is on because the batt terminal was off.

Just keep driving and you'll be fine. it'll turn off soon.

Hah... it went off after driving around the block.
Phew.. that was a close call. Thought I screwed up the wiring somehow.
With my warranty expiring in May(yes, I have only drove it 13,000 miles in 3 years), can't really afford to bring back to dealer for a check up anymore.

Thanks!

Its interesting - I was messing with DDM tuning High/Low beam kit this morning and got a SES light right after I turned the lights on to test the HIDs. Something is wrong with the wiring, I suppose, even though the lights worked ok and I plugged everyhting in correctly. I think I will ditch this set-up and go with just low-beam bulbs to make it less complicated. For now I have installed the regular halogens back and driving around waiting for the SES light to go away. Do you guys know how long it will take?

one thing that i have noticed and maybe because this is an Ebay kit is that u have the red and black wired that u plug into teh harness. my HID kit had plug for plug so there are no extra wires or tape to hold them in place.

I've installed TONS of systems and reinstalled lots of incredibly bad ones - never had one affect the MIL/SES. Might have been coincidence. Though causing a ground issue or having the high voltage leads in a strange place could cause something like a CAN code.

The SES light will extinguish in as few as 3 drive cycles so long as the problem is gone. Could be up to 40 cycles to clear from memory.

VDC light came off after 2 mins of driving.

eBay kit was cheezy but it works... I was proudly driving my pathfinder like a luxury car.. lol! until this pickup truck behind me with both HID headlight and foglight beaming... i was driving behind him and believe he saw my hid light and let me pass him purposely so he can stay behind me flashing me the whole way.. like 10 miles...

if this ebay kit can last me 1 month without problem, i will purchase another one H11 from ebay for the foglight... only because it is so cheap.. $40/pair.
