Possible ECM issue?

Postby markscalise » Tue Feb 15, 2011 8:28 am

2005 Pathfinder SE, about 78,000 miles. This morning I was sitting at a stop light when it started idling really rough. Looked down at my instrument panel and idiot lights are all popping up. Pushing the accelerator had no effect, and the power steering was out. My hazards worked fine, as did the heating system. I turned off the motor and after a few seconds I turned it back on, and everything was fine. The problem did not repeat on the rest of my stop and start 45 minute drive.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Mark

two common issues that come to mind are:
1) loose or corroded battery terminals
2) failing ECM relay, for which there is a recall campaign initiated

Definitely sounds like a failing ECM, which like previously posted is under a recall. I just had mine replaced and took only 20 min.
