Puddle lamps - shutting them off whilst tailgate open.

Postby elpeede » Tue May 10, 2011 4:48 pm

Guys I have a need to leave the tailgat open to keep the dogs cool when holidaying. I noticed that the puddle lights on the mirrors stay on when the tailgate or rear window is left open. I can't lock the car as such as the tailgate is open so the car just bleeps if I try.

Do the puddle lamps shut off automatically after a while, I don't want to flatten the battery.

you rich bastards with your puddle lamps.....your battery saver should shut them off....the time delay may also be set-able, along with headlight timer, etc. Just try it once before it really counts. I've left my dome light on a few times and battery saver always saves me!

Thanks .. Not rich though ;)

Puddle lamps are the name given to lights in the door mirrors which illuminate the ground on opening the doors. Normally they activate on unlocking and locking the car or opening the door. At least over here in Blighty thats what we call 'em.

Can't you change the bulb to LED and then you won't have to worry about it draining the battery

Ok. I understand now. What years/trim etc did the puddle lights come on? I have an 08 LE, but I'm deployed and don't remember if mine has those or not. I only had it 3 weeks prior to me leaving. I know my parents 05 tahoe had them.

My motor is a '08 Mammoth Sports Adventure spec .. looks like its in the US as well as the UK as its named after a Calafornian mountain range.

Comes with the Sat nav and rear roof mounted DVD ... and puddle lamps.
