AUX jack/ iPod jack, noisy???

Postby Mr Mayor » Mon May 16, 2011 6:33 am

I do believe my AUX jack (iPod connector) took a dump this weekend.

Is this hard to replace? Or maybe somethings loose I can tighten (doubtful, but hopeful)
How much of the center console has to come out?

And lastly, is this connector on the back of the "radio" somewhere?

I have to fix this soon! I need musica!!!

Thx!
Mr Mayor

PS, Noooooo it's not the iPod cable.

Noisy? Like there is a short in one of the wires or connections?

In the "Towing Big" thread Carl takes his center console apart to the point where you may be able to access the jack and replace it if it's just the jack itself.

Yeah a crackle, 1 speaker on, static, typical sounds of a connector or cable going bad)

As for the post.... Looks close enough... will try later, thanks!

Yup that post was enough to get 'er opened up. Thanks. Now I gotta find my torx to remove the tray to be able to get to the wire.
Speaking of which, this wire, do we know of a microfiche site that I can trace it back.. trying to make sure this isnt some big old honkin harness back there..

Quick update, looks like it was a combo of both the jack AND the ipod MONSTER cable.. After I replaced the iPod cable, I'd still lose volume for a split second....

So the cable was warrantied by Monster.
The factory "aux jack" was $34.

Issue resolved, happily jamming Chris Duarte Group via iPod!
