P0455 Code with shaking/vibrating during deceleration? Help!

Postby FinderofthePath » Sun Aug 14, 2011 3:27 pm

I have a 2005 Pathfinder SE Off Road (82,500 miles) and my SES light came on the other day. I have a Actron CP9125 OBDII Reader and it gives me a p0455 and p0455 pending code. What could be causing this code? I really don't think it is my gas cap. But here is the strange thing. During deceleration (with or without the brakes, above 25 and below 80 it seems) the vehicle vibrates or shakes and it's pretty loud. Almost like I am going over a bunch of rumble strips.
I have read about the trannies, but the tranny seems to shift fine up and down and the tranny fluid is very clean and the vehicle seems to run fine other wise. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

The code is not related to the driveability issue.

The P0455 is probably your evap valve.

The sound is probably your u-joints.

Could they actually make the car vibrate? Also I have noticed when I am backing up, the vehicle does make a squeaking noise from the rear end. I just assumed my rear brakes might be going?

See this post (and there are a lot more like it, search "u-joints"):

And yes, if you are squealing in reverse, your back brakes most likely need doing in the next 5-10k.

It was the rear u-joint. Fixed and running like new! Thanks for the help.
