Advice rear rancho spacers or OME springs

Postby BioTech » Tue Sep 13, 2011 10:51 am

I am putting the Rancho quick lifts on the front and Rancho 9000 on the back but debating to add the Rancho spacers or the Old Man springs? Any advice would be grate. also any advice on how to get the front lower shock bolt out?

Several members, including myself, had difficulty getting the rear properly aligned with OME springs... I took mine out and went with Rancho spacers, stock springs, and the Airlift 1000 bags. As for getting the front lower shock bolt out, use a breaker bar with a pipe extension and you should be able to break it loose.

Also on the spacers, they go on top of the springs? Do you use a zip script or anything to hold them to the spring or is all friction?

You need to disconnect the end link and swing the swaybar out of the way in order to get easier access to that lower shock bolt. I placed the Rancho spacer on the bottom... no zip ties necessary, it stays in place when sandwiched between the spring and lower arm.

Whats the best way to release the tension on the rear springs? I have replaced the rear shocks without any issues but the back I was not able to get the springs out.

1) Place a floor jack under the rear link holding the spring
2) Loosen the cam bolt
3) Disconnect the rear link from the rear knuckle

Slowly lower the floor jack and the rear link will follow. My springs pretty much fell out after the links were completely lowered.

Did you reuse the bottom rubber from the springs or just replace it with the rancho ones.

No, just replaced it with the rancho spacers.

Thanks, tried to do it this past weekend but had issue. never had to mess with the springs before. Just want to make sure. Still a little confused on how to get the spring out which item to unbolt and all but will give it a shot this weekend. 34x4 parts wanted over $400 for this work.

Unbolt the one closer to the wheel and loosen the one towards the center of the vehicle. Check out page RSU-18:
