2005 winter engine knock

Postby martyf250 » Mon Nov 14, 2011 7:14 am

every year when the temps get colder 50 degrees or below my engine gets a loud knock until it warms up to operating temp after driving it for 10 minutes or so. It has done this for a few years now. is this something normal or a bad knock sensor?

Next oil change, put in a bottle of Lucas Oil stablizer. It will quiet down the loud noises at cold start up.

I always think its funny when people think 50F is cold.... :D lol

Its perfectly normal, as long as the noise goes away upon warmup. As volvite mentioned, additives can help, but they can also mask issues too.
