ATF fluid after the bypass

Postby wilto » Mon Mar 05, 2012 7:54 am

So we lost a little bit of ATF when performing the bypass.
Not enough to get worried about replacing it but what y'all think of the color?

From what I have read it sounds like this is burnt and time to be replaced.
Should I get a pressure flush, just a simple exchange, what type of service do you recommend?

Drain and fill would be the safest and cheaper route. People will have mixed opinions on flushing it under pressure, but no one ever had any problems after drain and fill. Doing this every 30k or so is sufficient.

drain and fill sounds so easy.....I am a complete novice, is there a guide out there for those of us who are mechanically challenged?

Just drain the fluid into a bucket/jug and then put an equal amount of new fluid back in, where does it drain from and where do I fill it! lol

drain from the drain on the bottom of the transmission. Fill into the fill tube that the dipstick goes into.

Thie dipstick can be hard to spot. You will need a 10 mm socket to remove the nut that's holding it down.
