05 with 45,000 miles.. Kinda scary!

Postby wizeguy » Tue Mar 06, 2012 10:22 pm

I've been reading a lot of you guys post with your Pathfinder problems and its kinda scary owning one now.
I only have 45K miles on it and as you can see, I got 1/4 of a tank and the DTE reads 0. It previously read 54 miles... I fill it up and the gas gauge works.
I already had the issue with replacing the U-Joints, SES light came on with the P0455 code and planning on doing the tranny cooler bypass asap.
I'd hate to sell this truck.. I get 20+ mpg on trips.. 4x4 is awesome in the snow.. solid driving.. but I think if I take care of these problems (cooler, fuel pump) I should be ok... Right? :?

I agree with disallow. The issues you are having are common. They should not take very long to correct. I believe there are write ups for all the items you want to do on this forum.

Your fuel guage may be covered under warrany. Nissan extended the warranty for those. Don't be discouraged by these problems. I had a few problems with mine early on but it's been smooth sailing since then. I'm close to 100k now.

My VIN wasn't covered at first either. I got a letter from Nissan a few months later saying my VIN was now covered under the extended warranty for the fuel guage sensor. So definitely keep your receipt if you have it replaced in case you're covered later and Nissan will reimburse you.

That's where mine came from. I'll try to dig up the warranty extension letter I got from Nissan and see if that explains what year(s) are covered and whatnot.

I have an 05 Pathfinder and I recently had the fuel sending unit replaced under warranty. I had over 70K.
Read this:

I called Nissan North America and they confirmed for me that my vehicle was covered.

Here ya go:

I think your problem is not that your VIN isn't covered but that the warranty period has expired for 05's.

small update

Postby wizeguy » Thu Mar 08, 2012 5:13 pm

Called Nissan and customer service said my trucks out of warrenty...
They said to take my truck to the dealer, get a diog. of the repairs and call them back.. They will see what they can do.
I'm only 38 days over my warrenty.... I hope they'll cover it :|

I bet Nissan will cover it. It would be way too wrong for them not to.

Call Nissan NA back and ask them about the Recall. I just received a notice about it yesterday (but I do have a 2006).
