two seperate problems.....advice wanted

i have just bought a 07 pathfinder 2.5dci auto with 65k.

1st problem which has happened twice now is after been sat at traffic lights i accelerate hard and the vehicle puts itself into 4x4 mode even though the selector is on 2wd mode, the car loses power to the point i had to stop restart engine and carry on.

2nd problem is when cold the car makes a loud rattling noise on light acceleration, seems like once you accelerate hard oil gets round and noise stops but still makes noise again under light acceleration until vehicle warm but can still hear very slightly.

the oil levels are all ok.

Any advice would be appreciated.

welcome to the forums Rich, we dont have many diesels on the forum.

for your second issue, is the rattling coming from the exhaust? i have that same problem with the noise, and it goes away at high RPM. mine is from the rear silencer that needs replacement.
