Sounds typical these days. Shouldn't need replaced though as it's a far superior design to the "maintenance" type.

Sorry are u being sarcastic or serious? Lol
IMO all filters need cleaning or changing regularly. Otherwise what's the point of a filter.

its a maintenance-free filter thats supposedly lifetime uncloggable.

it sounds nice to customers, but IMO its Nissans way of "revenue engineering" to change the filter AND pump when it eventually clogs up.

it should be accessible from under the seat behind the driver. theres a hole there. i havent checked, but someone mentioned this once on the forum.

Sure, but there are filters that can be built for much longer service than the old "in-line" type basic fuel filters. If they design a filter to last as long or longer than the pump, why not? Outside of my diesels, fuel filter isn't on my list of maintenance items these days. I have a couple 200k miles cars under my belt that never needed a filter or pump. The last non-diesel I recall owning that even had a serviceable fuel filter was my '03 Silverado. Kinda like the old 3,000 mile oil change..time has moved on.

My '96 Accord has never had the filter replaced. It has 233K on it now. The oil change shop always tries to sell me on it, but I haven't bothered yet. Maybe I should, but I don't notice any problems right now.

I don't think there's an access panel for the fuel sender on the R51. It would be nice if there was, like on the R50's.

Don't worry about it. Owners manual does not state that it need to be replaced.

It's more of a screen than a filter. Just to keep larger particles from making their way to the engine.
