Keyless Entry Problems...Of course

Postby greenchevy94 » Thu Mar 13, 2014 11:48 am

1995 Pathfinder....I bought a new remote, replaced the batteries, put in a new siren. I'm going through the sequence....It's not programming. It will beep quietly 4 times as you hold the yellow button, then makes a funny sound and flashes the lights. It also makes a noise every time you kill the truck. Anyone have any suggestions?

Have you checked the hood switch on the firewall? These would commonly break until Nissan released a "beefier" countermeasure hood switch.

Yes...The hood switch is still on the firewall. I'm thinking maybe the control module is bad....who knows at this point. I did also take the remote by auto zone to use their tester...It is putting out signal...Just trying to cover all the bases.

That was kind of a funky system in that since it was port installed, there is no information in the service manual on it. There is a TSB that Nissan released with diagnostic information. There was also a Kent-Moore tool that would plug in place of the control module so you could test the system. Anything from Kent-Moore is an arm and a leg and I would be surprised if they still even had them for sale. There might be a few laying around in the older Nissan dealers covered in dust!
