Tach problems

So I am the proud owner of a 1995 XE and having been trying to figure out why my tach is not working properly. Every other gauge in the cluster functions fine and the tach bounces around at random with no rhyme or reason. I think I read on here that there may be a switch/relay/fuse that may have something to do with it and was wondering if anyone might have any ideas or a good place to start looking?

It's probably a bad tachometer and they are usually ridiculously expensive.
