1998 Pathfinder starting/running problem

Postby slathamneh » Wed Aug 26, 2009 8:15 am

I have a 98 Pathfinder that intermittently would crank but not start. Replaced fuel filter but didn't solve problem. Replaced fuel pump. Same problem: cranking but hard to start. Now it dies when coasting. Runs when my foot is on the gas pedal. Much harder to start now. Does this sound like a fuel injector problem? Any ideas?

If it's a 98, then its the fuelinjection system, maybe ecu, or possibly timing.

if its an 89 then i can give a little more info, you have 2 injectors in what looks like a carborator, its not a carb, but injectors. At the age it's at I would not be surprised if injectors are going, they are very expensive new, but there are places that rebuild them, I had that done with my 89 pathy, and cost me 100 for bolth, and solved the issue. Also if it's die'n then you may want to make sure your timing, and such are not the issue, even ecu.
