Not enabling 4x4 on 1995 Pathfinder SE

Postby dbuhler » Sun Dec 06, 2009 11:14 am

I am not able to put my pathfinder into 4x4. I can move the shifter to 4h but the indication light does not come on and it does not feel like it is in 4x4 when driving. I checked the shift lock fuse and it is still good. Recent work done the the vechicle was that all brakes replaced. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

might have better luck getting answers on this if you post in the WD21 forum http://www.thenissanpath.com/viewforum.php?f=5...or maybe in the general automotive one http://www.thenissanpath.com/viewforum.php?f=11.

hope you figure it out.

I think you may have posted in the wrong place, but sounds like you may have some f'd up hubs. If you don't line up the hub body when you tighten those allen head bolts (that always strip or break) you run the risk of cracking the inside of the hub. Clean the grease off and inspect the parts with the spring running around it or the platic bushing inside. If it worked before the brakes, but not after, that's a pretty sure bet. also be sure to set the bearings right on re-assemble, or you'll have a loose front end followed by a scored bearing plate down the road.
