1991 Terrano/Pathfinder Overheat Light

Postby mtbkr » Mon Jan 04, 2010 11:09 am

Hi all, new guy here. I live in Canada and I've got a JDM imported '91 Terrano (Pathfinder.)

Lately, within a few minutes of starting it I get a red overheat warning light intermittently coming on on the dash board. At least I think it's an engine overheat light, (second light down, right next to the parking brake warning light.) I don't have the owner's manual so I can't be 100% sure.

I don't think it's actually overheating because the temperature guage never goes further than half way between "C" and "H." The light comes on shortly after I start it, even when it has been sitting for a day in -20 celcius weather. When if first comes on the temperature needle has barely started climbing from dead cold.

Any suggestions? Faulty sensor perhaps?

sounds like the sensor...try disconnecting the sensor and the light should go out then then ground the wire and the lite should be on....if that checks out then it's the sensor..
