The Nissan Path

hey guys im new to this forum. i have a 93 pathfinder its auto and just yesterday i was driving it and it just started to rev up. so i pulled over tried to put it into all the gears and it did nothing. i also tried shifting it from 4h to 4l to 2w and still nothing. i got it towed to my house now and started it and and just tried shifting gears and it the rpms go up up just slightly in reverse and drive. so i was just wondering if anyone could help me solve the problem or tell me where to start looking. thanks.

someone told me to look at the cable and i did it looks perfectly fine it connected to tranny. i also tried to roll it in park and it does. so is there anything anyone can help me out with?
