Turbo Z24 motor or engine swap???

Postby Agent j » Tue Aug 28, 2007 1:23 am

I have a 1989 Z24 pathfinder and it's dead slow. I was thinking of putting a turbo on it.
now i have done some research and found that a Z18et motor is nearly identical. Is it possible to put the exhaust manifold with turbo and inlet manifold with all the goodies from a Z18et on a Z24 motor with no fuss?
it's either that or fit a RB30 motor which is a bit more stuffing around.
any info will help.
cheers.

Oof, no wonder its slow. 103hp, 136ft,lbs roughly on that vehicle. Bleah.

I would think that putting the manifold and extra bits from the Z18ET to the Z24 may physically fit, but probably wouldn't run as you expect as the top end on the z18 was designed for that 1.8l engine while the Z24 is a 2.4

Why not get put in a KA24DE? Should be plenty to choose from, good engine save for the damn plastic timing chain guides and you would actually have more power and torque from that NA engine than you would get from the Z18ET. They even have after-market turbo kits you can toss on later if it's still not enough power, KA24DET. Or you can get rowdy and shoe-horn an SR20DET in there.
