Nope, nothing there that looks like a computer. But hey, I've got a carburetta as well.. as such no need for a computer. Just the dizzy and electronic ignition for the 8 spark plugs, which is the Z24 engine. If it's got a computer it's news to me.. (mind you, I'm not saying it hasn't, I might be wrong, but nothing to my knowledge that's for sure)

Oh yeah, telling me it's an '88' model doesn't help with knowing what engine is in the vehicle.. because to my knowledge it'll be the same engine as mine, but hey, I don't know what other engines they fitted in the US - because mine's in Australia.

Ahh, that'd explain it then..
Not sure I've ever seen one of those engines to be able to offer help, but try disconnecting the battery overnight, perhaps that might help (instead of for a few minutes)..

If that doesn't help I'm afraid I'm all out of ideas.. thought someone else might've come up with an idea for you by now.

How do you know it's not resetting? It may very well be, but whatever is causing the CEL/MIL to light up in the first place might just re-trigger the CEL/MIL whenever you start it back up. FWIW, according to the Haynes book I got, removing either of the battery cables is the easiest way to reset the computer, so you seem to be doing it right. Other than that, I dunno what to tell you.
