Are you posting about your 95XE? If so you might get more responses if you post in the proper section. You will need the find the correct year group. This area is for 05 and newer Pathfinders.

As for the tick, did it make the noise prior to the oil change? Did you use the proper oil weight?

Sounds like it could be a valve sticking. You can try putting in some Lucas oil stablizer and see if that makes a difference.

I'll go ahead and try that.. It also did this when I have my 98 Nissan hard body, maybe a flaw in older Nissan trucks?

Seafoam is another good additive for your oil, it may help free up a hydraulic lifter that is not pumping up as it should due to varnish deposites, or dirt.

It does sound possible that a hydraulic lifter may be the source of the noise.

Many parts store carries it, do a google search and you'll find it.

It can be added to fuel as a stabilizer/cleaner, to the oil to remove varnish deposits, and injected into the intake while enging is running to clean injectors and valves, etc.. most commen method is the vacuum hose from the power brake to put it in the intake.

For your purpose, just adding it to the oil is what you need to do, but it won't hurt to add some to your gas tank as well.

It's pretty well documented just google seafoam and read the hits...

I get it at either autozone or autopalace in my area, Walmart probably carries it also.. places like that.

What are your results from running the seafoam treatment?
