1993 XE 4x4 Suspension roll.

Postby MadMax » Fri Aug 17, 2012 4:37 pm

I just got my first Pathfinder, it is very ruff and I am using it as a daily, it needs some work, and I need some advice.

All tires are good and it does have 198,000 miles so everything is worn, but driving down the road if a you hit a bump it starts rocking side to side right to left and left to right. Its terrible and gives me a headache. I was thinking shocks but not sure... the rear shocks when i try to rock it side to side are a bit weak but the front feel strong. Any other possibilities for this problem?

Checked it all over again and discovered the passenger front has very little "give" unlike the other 3 corners. with it being torsion im curious if it could be a shock issue or torsion bar adjustment issue. any advice?

Sounds like bad shock absorbers. If a torsion bar goes bad, you'll see the difference in the ride height of the vehicle.

the ride height is lower on the passenger front than the driver side. I'll try to get some pictures.

Now it won't start... :(

I sprayed some starting fluid and it will run off of that but its a fuel related issue.

The wires off of the battery terminal are likely "fusible links." If they are, make sure you get a new fusible link from the dealer or replace with the proper type fusible link wire. If you replace the link with regular wire, you could fry your main harness if there is a shorted circuit.

I'll check the amperage draw and put a circuit breaker in. They did not appear to be fuse-able links but extra protection doesn't hurt.
