Doors Automatically Lock When Driver's Door is Shut

Postby Kapoosta » Fri Oct 12, 2012 11:47 am

So I just repaired my door lock timer in my 1992 XE V6 pathfinder (relay solder point cracked) and now my power locks are acting weird. Whenever I slam the driver's door, all of the doors in the vehicle lock. If I close the door gently, this doesn't happen. It also happens with the key in the ignition, vehicle running, etc. If I slam any other door, nothing happens.

Anyone have an idea of what may be causing this? I was thinking maybe the power lock switch might be shorting due to vibrations.

theres a short somewhere. when you slam the door, there is contact being made in the switch from the sounds of things.

That's my first guess too. I'm going to take it out tomorrow to check it out. I'll update on my findings.

Turns out there was some electrical contact grease which was hanging from the copper contact on the door lock switch which would complete the connection whenever the door was slammed.

Easy fix.
