88 pathfinder find, what to look for

Postby KillaKyle95 » Sun Jan 13, 2013 6:47 pm

i find myself wanting to trade vehicles about every 6 months, and this time i came across a 88 pathfinder, with the 3.0 and the 5 speed. Coming from previously owning a 95 D21 with the 2.4, which had holes in the frame and was 80% bondo with 90,000 on it, im just curious if theyre is anything different other than frame holes i should look for. The rockers are needing replacement but other than that, its good for living a michigan winter life. Mainly, any special rust places or things the v6 needs serviced that should be checked before trading. it has 180k on it, by the way. thank you in advance

Pick up the back seats and look for rust on the floorboard... If it is rusty there it is time to look a little deeper...

Check for rot on the frame at the compression rod brackets near the front A-arms. As far as the engine, timing belt is due every 60000 miles.
