new brakes, new noises

Postby rollingrock » Thu May 16, 2013 4:53 pm

Hey folks

Just had new rotors and pads put on the front and had rear e brake adjusted.

Picked back up from shop, no problem...drove it to my storage unit, 5 miles away. It sat over night, I just picked it back up and drove it home and gawd awful grinding noises when I hit the brakes now...is that just the bedding process or did they do something wrong?

(Midas, North Richland Hills Texas)

Thanks RR

The bedding process is a matter of heat cycling the pads; you shouldn't hear any grinding. I would take it back and have them check their work.

Just found the problem...they forgot to tighten the caliper bolts and the bottom one fell out and thus the grinding was my caliper grinding into my brand new wheel.

Needless to say, I will at their place of business the 10 min before they open.

Looks like I am getting a new wheel....

You're lucky that's all that got damaged!
