wont stay running

Postby 88pathfinderman » Sun Jul 28, 2013 11:23 am

Hello I am the owner of not one but two 88 Pathfinders one and xe and the other an se-xe. I am looking for info on fuel issues on these model years. Have one that will start and run on fuel if it is put in the carburetor but will not stay running and doesn't seem to pull fuel from the tank. I have check to make sure there is fuel at the filter and yes it there. Need some ideas.
thank you.

If you have an 88, you should have throttle body fuel injection. Fuel pressure would need to be confirmed with a fuel pressure gauge (I believe the spec is around 13 psi). Power can be tested at the fuel injectors using a 12v test lamp. You would need a noid light or pulse meter to see if the ground is being pulsed by the ECM to "fire" the fuel injectors. There was a couple of TSB's on the TBI system. You might be able to find them at NissanHelp.com in their "knowledge base."
