Where is my Thermostat?

Postby Rustybux » Fri Oct 04, 2013 10:47 am

1994 V-6. My temp guage barely goes above the cold mark unless I'm pulling a hill, then it goes about 1/4 the way up. it has some heat but not hot. Thinking my thermostat is stuck open. WHERE is it? I'd hate to remove all the A/C brackets, timing covers etc. could someone post a picture of where it's located?

It's right in the middle of the front of the engine, in the opening between the upper and lower timing belt covers. You'll need to get the idler pulley bracket, cooling fan and water pump pulley out of the way. I highly suggest you use a genuine Nissan thermostat. It's a little more money, but I find that many aftermarket thermostats run a little cooler than the OEM part.
