Im able to move tire when on ground and in park

Postby iamjoshz » Sat Jan 11, 2014 11:08 pm

No im not bragging lol but im trying to find a solution or suggestions on where to start.

When im driving there is a squeaking noise that comes from the passenger side front tire area. And if i go over a bump its a pretty hard thud. So i looked around and pushed on the top part of my tire and the tire slightly moved inward. Im thinking it could have something to do with the stut as i noticed it moves when i do this..

This truck is new to me, thanks for any help!

A lot of things can cause a squeak in the front and it's hard to diagnose a noise if one can't hear it for himself. If you can see the strut moving when pushing in on the tire, it might be an indication of a worn strut mount at the top of the strut or, less likely, loose bolts at the bottom of the strut. If you are not experienced in inspecting steering and suspension components, I would recommend you have a reputable mechanic do such.

also, check all around the strut tower for rust perforation. There is a recall for it on these models due primarily to road salt/water. If it becomes large enough it no longer supports the strut which starts to move around until the truck collapses down. Prior to that it makes a lot of noises.

Call your local dealer or Nissan's customer service hotline with your VIN # and have them check for any open campaigns or recalls for your vehicle. If the recall is open, you just schedule an appointment with your Nissan dealer.
