Need some help hunting down an issue

Postby Treleaven » Wed Apr 30, 2014 1:08 pm

Hey gang,

I just picked up a 1999.5 Pathfinder LE. I got a smoking deal on it but with that smoking deal comes some issues. The first major issue I would like to overcome is that I do not have power to my seats, windows, locks, or sunroof. I have checked all of the fuses. Fuse #13 was blown so I replaced but no changes. I have spent the night searching online to the point where I woke up with the laptop on my chest but I have not been able to successfully hunt down why this would happen.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Mark

So I have tinkered around a bit more but I still have not been able to determine what it is that could malfunction that would kill the power seats, power windows, sunroof, and power locks. Everything else works(power mirrors included). The only thing that I have been somewhat able to link it to is the smart entrance unit failing. There is no fob with the Pathfinder and when the vehicle is off, the security light is flashing.

i'm thinking its a control unit or maybe fuse box. was the car wet?

it was not wet as far as I can tell. Everything about the car is in minty shape minus a dented hood and cigarette ashes over everything.

The common denominator is 40-amp fusible link "f" in the engine compartment. It powers all of those items.

I have switched that one with multiple replacement fuses and it is not working.

No fuses are blowing. I just lack power where I need it.

All of those items get power from the 40 amp fusible link, which is why I'm asking if there is power at the link. If not, you have to check the circuit from the positive cable to the fusible link wire. If you have power to the 40 amp link, as well as "through" the link, then we can go further with tracing the problem.

I just picked up a multimeter yesterday and I was stoked to use it today but I went to start the Pathy after looking at the M1-E1 harness, and it was cranking but not getting fuel. I pulled the harness apart again today and looked for something bent or out of place, put it back together, and just got clicking of relays when I tried to start it. Is this going to be a 1 step forward, 3 steps back type of dance?

I called the dealership and there are 2 remaining recalls on the Pathy so once it gets going I am going to take it to them. The fuel filler and the strut mounts. What happens if it fails those inspections?

They will attempt to fix the strut mount rust through if they can. I have heard that if they can't they may condemn the vehicle and give you the book value of it........Then they probably escort you over to a salesman to try to get you to make a down payment on a new ride

Sounds like a bad relay.

Check the electrical wiring for your ride. There is a central relay that controls that area.

I have found my issue. I have power to my (f) fuse FL40a, but I do not have power to the M21 circuit breaker. How do I determine where my power is lost?
