'97 will sputter after 5 minutes of driving

Wonder if anyone has seen similar symptoms:

Started sputtering two weeks ago after driving 10 blocks. It will consistently start up fine and drive normal...but after 5 minutes it will start to sputter and then eventually die if I let it idle.

- No check engine light
- OBD code: Knock Sensor
- Air hoses look good...no leaks/cracks
- I read about tapping the MAF will idling to see if it causes sputter: did not cause issue.
- While it is sputtering at idle I can hear 'clicking noise' from distributor. I sprayed the distributor cap with water and looked for arching: none found

Any insight would be great.

Ended up being a bad coil in the distributor.
