02 pathfinder ECT

Postby mbrianc » Tue Aug 18, 2015 8:15 pm

Hello guys!

The ECT on my 02 pathfinder 4x4 has tested bad. The resistance is measuring too low, and it is reporting temps too high at start measured with my obd tool.

I see where it is located on the fsm, but I don't see a procedure for replacement. Does the intake have to be removed for access?

You don't have to remove the intake, but, it's not easy to get to, either. The R&R is pretty basic. Unplug the connector, unscrew the old one and reverse to install. If you leave the radiator cap installed, you won't loose a lot of coolant if you are quick enough. I put a little teflon tape on the threads of the new sensor. I can't remember all the details, but I used a 19mm deep socket with universal and extension, IIRC.
