99.5 R50 Catches Wind Like A Sail

Postby texasblue » Wed Aug 26, 2015 8:55 pm

I have a 1999.5 4x2 Pathy with a manual transmission. It's stock but runs like a champ except... When the wind blows, keeping the truck from blowing away like a plastic sack in a wind tunnel becomes a challenge. It's been like this since I purchased it 3 years ago, but I was *literally* nearly blown off the interstate, or into other traffic a few times driving through the mountains around Van Horn, TX. I've never had any other problems with steering, handling, or suspension, and the problem only happens when the wind is blowing.

Is this normal? If not, is there something I can check, change, or swap out?

How many miles? Sounds like your suspension is in need of replacement. Shocks/struts and stabilizer bushings should tighten it up especially the rear "death wobble" bushings.
