driver side (left) catalytic converter removal

Postby Jun » Mon Nov 07, 2016 3:58 pm

hello all, Iam replacing both main catalytic converters on my 98 SE. i have successfully removed and replacced the right side (passenger) catalytic converter. My question is what is the best route to take when removing the drivers side (left)? It is more compact and the headshields are PIA. Any advice would be great.

Ok folks so what I ended up doing was removing the whole header with the catalytic converter attached on it. pretty much removed the intake system, EGR tube, loosened the dipstick bracket and removed the whole unit from the bottom of the SUV. The space is a little tight and you would have to angle it to bring it down. For anyone that's doing this make sure you spray the nuts with WD40 or PB blaster.
