Automatic Gearbox R50 3.3L

Postby Chungungo » Fri Feb 05, 2010 4:43 pm

Hi,

I want to change the automatic transmission fluid of my R50 1998 3.3L and I have these questions:

What is the code for this gearbox?
What type of liquid used?
How much fluid needs this gearbox?

Thanks for the help.

You need ATF with dextron 3 or dextron III. Now when you flush it from the trans drain plug, you will get around a good 5 liters... Here's what I do to facilitate the change

1) look at the oil level . if oil level is ok then you can do this procedure
2) drain the oil in a reusable container like a plastic pitcher with gradation numbers etc..
3) note the ammount you got.
4) put the same ammount of new oil in the same container and fill back.

There is more oil than 5 liters that goes in the trans, but a lot of it will stay in the torque converter.
