Worn leather on steering wheel

Postby Nighter-cdn » Fri Feb 19, 2010 10:17 am

My 04's upper section of the steering wheel is worn. I see that it has stitching all around and appears to be divided in to 4 sections. All of the other sections appear okay.

Has anyone had success with changing just the one section?

leather on steering wheel

When I bought my 2001 Pathy, the leather was somewhat worn as well, and all over. I just bought one of those aftermarket faux-leather squishy-type covers (the kind with the built-in piece of plastic "string" that you wind around the wheel, that stretches and holds the cover in place) for a couple bucks at a discount auto parts store, and it looks great. I'd be really leery of trying to remove/replace part of the leather - after a few years of hands gripping it and the sun warming it, I'd be willing to bet it would be a bear to get off... and that doesn't even begin to address how one would replace it. I'd just go with the aftermarket cover, imho.
