Newbie...... with question

Postby steve s » Sat Jan 22, 2011 11:44 am

Well.....I'm not that new......I'm 52

Looks like this forum has lots of action, so I wanted to post a question about a problem I have. I have a 96 LE that seems to have a sticky relay controlling the heater fans. Here's the deal. Recently the fan will not come on period by any means until I hit the appropiate sixe bump in the road and then viola.....she's on and I finally get some heat. I am a car tinkerer and a tinkerer of lots of other things, so I am familiar with lots of electic, and mechanical systems. My theory is that there is an analog type (as opposed to solid state) relay controlling the fan and it is old and sticky. Or, maybe I have a loose ground somewhere. Question is can anyone tell me where to start looking. I know there are lots of relays under the hood, but I so far cannot determine which one it might be, or where to start looking for that ground. This problem has been getting progressively worse for months now, and is now being a real PITA. Maybe a wiring schematic.....anyone know of such a thing I can get my hands on??

Thanks for any ideas,....steve
