Heater core replacement, 2001

Postby Randall Mecham » Sat Jul 02, 2011 12:35 pm

I'm about to tackle replacing the devil myself - dash removal and all. After two winters without heat I've go to, and I'm getting quotes of 1200 to 1500 if others do the work. Any advice, experience, instructions, photos from other do-it-yourselfers, would be greatly appreciated, or opinions on the many replacement cores available. I have found one do-it-yourselfer online who says after removing all dash, console, audio and etc. stuff he was finally stumped when he discovered he also needed to removed a lateral 'tube' (structure) extending the full cabin width beneath the dash to which was attached all manner of wiring harnesses, etc. Anyone know about this?
