Security Beep Constant and Suspension Question

Postby WellingtonB » Fri Dec 09, 2011 2:21 pm

Hey All - Newbie here.

Just picked up a new to me 1997 Pathfinder. I searched a bit and didn't find the answer so I'm starting a topic.

A) The security system beeps constantly while the door is open. Key out of the ignition and it beeps and flashes until you close the door. How do you disable this? Why is it happening in the first place? * Note: The keyfob does not work.

B) I bought the truck knowing it had suspension issues. Best way to describe it is the following: Driving anywhere past 40MPH it has a very violent side to side shake. Feels like King Kong just grabbed the car and started tossing it side to side. Almost as if it will finally just tip over.

I was told that the bushings in the rear (sway bar??) needed replacement as well as the front shocks (lots of bounce in the front).

Ideas?

Thanks!

The swaying sounds like the 'death rock'. Usual advice is to replace the rear trailing arm bushings.

Here's a useful link for replacing the bushings:
