i broke off my crank positioning sensor.
i have the feeling that i am royally fucked
any suggestions on what to do?

There are many people on here that would help if they understood the issue better.
its a 1996, the sensor is on the top of the bell housing of the transmission toward the engine, 3.3l v6

If you can't pick it out using a dental pick or something similar, the only option left is to remove the transmission.
