Segovia (Spain)

Postby Shazzbat » Wed Feb 11, 2009 9:21 am

Here is my report about our 4x4 day in Segovia (Spain).

We met at 10:00 last saturday morning. Around 10:30 we put engines on and headed for the track. Just four 4x4goers, but enough to have a good crack.

As you can see on the pics the fields were covered with snow and temperature was around 0ºC. Anyway last days we dealt with temperatures well below 0ºC, so we can say the weather was nice!

The terrain was very wet and we came across several ponds totally ice frozen, 3 and even 4 cm thick. Furthermore this kind of fine clay becomes the mud in something like sticky lump. You can see it below.

This little slope was absolutely impossible to climb up. Wheels covered with mud slipped over the surface

My feet, adding up around two kilos of mud per boot

This is Mempal's car. Same stopover.

Another stopover for a bit of lunch, Spanish pork, a bit of cheese and some beers.

We even made the most of the lunch stopover by playing hideout.

Heading down a muddy slope. The Navara is not turning, it's just sliding. Well, all of us went down sliding. Fortunately we left the gully far off.

The wheels fully covered with sticky mud. There was no difference by using BFGoodrich, Cooper or GoodYear. All of them became slicks.

Some ponds just for splashing the ditches of the track. Very funny!

We arrived in Coca. Its castle is one of the most visited in Spain. It is revamped and you can walk the innards. After ticket, of course.

Then we went for the meal. I'm the guy with the orange jumper.

As expected, after meal we had to lift the legs. Too much wine!

And one of us even twice!

Hope you liked it.

Nice pics. Sure wish I could take a drive to a castle here. Thanks for sharing!

PS-Clay sucks. It doesn't matter what tire or vehicle one has, it just plain sucks.
