Center console latch.

Postby BMXPath » Mon Oct 29, 2007 4:03 pm

I snapped the latch on the armrest center console in half. I am sure I stressed it from leaning on it while reaching across to the glove box or maybe from leaning on it while getting adjusted in my seat.

I took the lid apart and JB welded the latch back together. With it reassembled it looked fine since the break in the plastic was inside where it cant be seen... It lasted about a week til it broke again. :o

Anyone have a solution besides a complete new armrest lid from the dealer for $160?

I don't think there's too much to repair on that latch. How about a junk yard?

I thought about the junk yard. Are there many '05 and later Paths in the junkyard yet?

Could this possibly be blamed on the TSB out for the center latch console? It may not be applicable now since the application of JBWeld and what not but you never know.

Try plastic weld, it's made by permatex and available at any auto parts store. Sand the edges to roughen the pieces and glue them together.

Sounds like it might have been a faulty latch, I think Nissan even has a TSB specifically on those...I'd go check the service managers pulse. :)

Mine broke, literally, the first day I drove the truck.

I just let it be. Might be hard though if you were used to it latching for a few years... I don't know any different, so it doesn't bother me.
