"Tokyo, Japan (CNN) -- Nissan is recalling more than 2.1 million vehicles worldwide over engine problems, the automaker said Thursday.

The Japanese automaker said the problem may cause the engine to stall. In extreme cases, a stalled engine cannot be restarted.

No related injuries or accidents have been reported, Nissan said.

The recalled vehicles were sold in China, England, Japan, Spain, Taiwan and the United States. All the affected models were built between 2003 to 2006.

In the United States, six models have been affected. They are Armada, Frontier, Pathfinder, Titan, Xterra and Infiniti QX56.

In Japan, the models affected include Cube, Lafesta, March, Note, Serena, Sylphy, Tiida, Tiida-Latio and Winglord.

Other countries use different model names, which Nissan did not immediately provide."

Yes,
This also affected Norway with the model March they have in Japan. This model is called Micra in Norway and they said it was only about 700 owners that would be contacted.

This was the only model mentioned in Norway.

From http://www.freep.com/article/20101028/B ... -worldwide
TOKYO — Nissan is recalling 2.14 million vehicles worldwide including the popular March and Mycra subcompacts for an ignition problem that may stall the engine — its third-largest recall ever.

No accidents have been reported that are suspected of being caused by the defect, according to Yokohama-based Nissan Motor Co. The recall affects cars in the the United States, Europe and Japan.

A problem was found in an ignition-system part called the relay for vehicles produced from August 2003 through July 2006, including small cars like the March, Cube and Note, and about a dozen other models, such as the Tiida sedan, Titan pickup and Infiniti QX56 luxury model.

In extreme cases, the engine will stall and won't be able to start, said Nissan spokesman Mitsuru Yonekawa.

Of the recalled vehicles, nearly 835,000 were produced in Japan, 762,000 in North America, and 354,000 in Europe.

Nissan, which is allied with Renault SA of France, did not disclose a cost for the recall, but it may be relatively cheap requiring just a half hour to fix.

The cars were produced in Japan, the U.S., Great Britain, Spain, China and Taiwan.

The massive numbers involved in recent recalls are linked to cost-cutting strategies that result in the same parts being used in many models.

Toyota Motor Corp., the world's biggest automaker, has suffered a spate of recalls over the last year, totaling more than 10 million vehicles worldwide for sticky gas pedals, floor mats that can trap accelerators, brake fluid leaks and other problems.

I just called Nissan Assist. My pathfinder is one of the recalled. She said called it is a "computer modular" problem  I guess that sounds like the ipdm. Recall letters go out Dec 1.

I also need the fuel sending unit replaced. I guess I will bringing it in around Xmas vacation so I can do it all at once.

I would believe so. Like I said, I was going to bring my pathy in next week to do the FSU then I heard about the recall today. I wanted to bring it in and do everything at once.

I asked if I could bring it in next week for the recall issue while I was doing the FSU. She said I could but I would have to pay for the recall issue but they would reimburse me once I get the recall letter.

I'm just going to wait so I don't have to be chasing down paperwork.

No, but there should be a recall imho. 2 weeks ago Nissan extended the warrantly on the FSU on certain models and years to 72 months or 72k miles. 3 weeks ago I was not covered and they wanted $550 to fix. I'm glad I waited :)

However, the lady said that they will honor the warranty pass those stipulations for good will. The FSU has to fail first. Don't bother trying to get it replaced if it's working correctly now.

yeah, they recalled it earlier this year.

I had mine fixed just before the recall, but only paid the diagnostic change.

I need to look into this extended warranty though. Hopefully it applies to mine.
