Low beams not working??

Postby Mackinns » Wed Oct 16, 2019 6:32 am

First off, hi to you all!
I bought myself an 07 pathfinder for the winter. Here in Ontario a vehicle is to be saftey checked before putting it on the road. So my saftey was done on Friday the 11th and on Saturday I made a trip to my folks' house in the country. That evening as I went to leave, I discovered that I had no low beam headlights. High beams work, Taillights work, fog lights work. My dad (retired mechanic) and I poked around and discovered no power to the fuses. I spent the night and called the mechanic that did the saftey in the morning, and he said he'd have a look at it. I've since dropped it off to him but he seems just as baffled as to what is happening. Just wondering if any of you have had the same problem? Any insight to share?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I probably should have stated that the vehicle is a US model and has a Hamsar Module installed for the required daytime running lights here. Thanks

Interesting fact, Hamsar's manufacturing facility is in Burlington...

I'm thinking this has to be related to the module, though DRLs are usually wired through your high beams. In the case of the pathfinder, the bulbs are the same, just at different angles.

I'd have your mechanic check whether the module got wired up to the right circuit.

That is interesting... The mechanic was suspecting the module (previously installed by someone else) as well. I had disconnected it when my dad and I were poking around but low beams still didn't work? I did some searching and I'm suspicious of the ipdm or the bcm?? Does that seem possible?

Thought I'd update this to possibly help someone in the future. It turned out to be the IPDM. It took the mechanic some serious troubleshooting but that was the culprit. I thought I'd also mention that once this was replaced, the clock on the Bose stereo started to keep the time again as it was previously just stuck to wherever it was set. The tpms light has gone out, along with the service engine light and air bag light... It's sure nice not to have any lights staring me in face anymore! Cheers!

Didn't know about all the other issues you were having... my advise would have been different!
