Air Intake - Duct Assembly rubber hoses replacement

Postby alecsey » Thu Apr 09, 2015 9:12 am

Hello,

Did anyone have to replace rubber hoses on Pathfinder 2006 that connect air duct to throttle body on the left and to air filter box on the right? Mine are all cracked and broken. Nissan does not sell rubber hoses separately, but wants me to buy air duct assembly with the hoses part 16576EA200. I was wondering if it possible to buy aftermarket the hoses.

Thank you in advance...

I'd be surprised if they are available aftermarket, as they are probably not in high demand.
How much is the new assembly from the dealer?

Dealer wants $60 for the new assembly. It can be found on ebay for $47. I am wondering there must be a good reason Nissan wants me to replace perfectly good plastic air duct while I only need to replace cracked rubber hoses. Unless this good reason is their utter greed.

I think for now I am just going to use silicone elastic wrap around tape like e-z fuse tape ($5 at home depot).

IDK why they deteriorated. Maybe my engine is vibrating more than it should? I think mechanics mentioned something about bad engine mounts awhile ago.

Nissan sells a lot of parts as an "assembly." It is part of their "modular" concept that started with the 2002 Altima. It cuts down the number of individual parts they need to stock. $60 doesn't sound all that bad considering you are getting 13 individual parts combined in the assembly. 1stAAANissanParts.com sells it for $42.52+shipping.

Be thankful for that. On my wife's 05 Mazda 6 V6, that rubber tube from the air filter box to the throttle body is over $100! Have you looked at low mileage salvage yard units?

Thank you for this post! I'm wondering the same thing. Both of mine have splits and cracks too. 2005 with just over 100K.

Hey,

Here's what I did. I went to home depot and bought a silicone tape. Wrapped it around old cracked rubber hoses and it works like a charm!!! $5 for tape and that's it!

Instead of silicone tape, why not just go buy new silicone hoses? They're available in any auto parts store.

Or find them onine: http://www.ebay.com/sch/eBay-Motors-/60 ... ose&_frs=1

Silicone hoses are too small, for starters.

How big are those hoses? You can get the silicone hose up to 25mm which is about 1inch. :?: :!:

FLiPMaRC, I think the hoses in question are the 4"-5" diameter connectors
on each end of the plastic duct that is between the radiator and the plastic engine cover

Oh ... alecsey stated "rubber hoses" so I assumed otherwise.
