Is it important I learn this stuff?smj999smj wrote:Nissan calls for NissanMatic Type "D" ATF in the transfer case, but I use the Valvoline Maxlife Full-synthetic ATF in the transfer case and also in the power steering, as well.
Transfer case capacity is 3-1/8 quarts for the AUTO mode transfer case, compared to 2-1/8 quarts for the "standard" transfer case. Transmission capacity is the same, regardless. If you have any more questions regarding capacities, they can be found in the owners manual. If you don't have one, you can access an online manual here:

If you have an "LE," then you have the AUTO mode transfer case. On the transfer case selector switch, it will also say ""AUTO." Otherwise, you have the standard transfer case.IRMB wrote:Is it important I learn this stuff?smj999smj wrote:Nissan calls for NissanMatic Type "D" ATF in the transfer case, but I use the Valvoline Maxlife Full-synthetic ATF in the transfer case and also in the power steering, as well.
