FAN NOISE

Postby Goliat6288 » Fri Aug 23, 2019 7:26 pm

hey everyone

ive been looking to add another pathfinder to the family. looking into the fully equipped ones for the wife (sunroof, leather, heated seats and heated steering wheel). test drove one two days ago and as soon as you turn it on all you hear is the fan. when you accelerate you hear the fans go louder, unless you punch it and at about 4K rpms youll start to hear the engine. it also seems like it has less spunk to it. anybody know why?

this was an 08 v6.not sure if they tuned those differently than the 05-07

my 07 doesnt sound like that at all but my brothers inlaws 05 does sound like that.

This is a pretty common issue that is caused in most cases by a faulty fan clutch. They stay engaged all the time so you'll constantly hear the "roar" of the fan. Many have reported problems with aftermarket options, so it's best to stick with genuine Nissan if you replace the fan clutch.

how hard is it to replace a fan clutch?

or would it be easier to replace the whole fan?
