Biggest tires for a 18" Wheel?

Postby clubster » Sun Aug 22, 2010 8:40 pm

I have a 08 V8 LE with the stock 18" wheels and would like to add larger tires. I hear 285/65-18 Nitto Terra Grapplers would work fine but would like to see other opinions. I do not want them to rub and the Pathfinder is stock with no plans to add a lift. I am looking to fill the wheel well out a little as the stockers seem to little.

The 285/65-18 are 33" tires that would rub on stock suspension. The most you can go stock is 275/65-18 which is between a 32" and 33" tire. Even then, you may get a little bit of rub. You're better off with 265/65-18.

Thx for the input! Would there be any pics of what a stock pathy would look like with these on them or similar tire?

After doing some research what has me confused is that this Pathy is using the 285's with no issues. Any input as to why?

As I understand, you want to have larger tires. I'm not sure if the types of tires from coast to coast will fit to your vehicle but you may check it out yourself.

I'm going to go with 295/65/18 Duratracs when my Coopers wear out, but I have a 2" lift. I don't get any rubbing with my 285/60/18 LTZs but again it's lifted and has aftermarket wheels, the backspacing is similar though because of the rims being wider than stock. The 285/60/18 size would probalbly fit stock suspension with stock wheels considering the overall diameter is only 31.5" (the same as stock Off Road package 265/75/16). But they would "look" bigger with the extra 20mm/.79" of width over stock.

Hope this helps :D
